Janet has a BFA in illustration from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Ever since Janet could hold a pencil she has been drawing, It's her life. Janet's pencils, paint brushes and carving tools are her magic wands. Spreading love and joy to all that behold her work, "it's simple if my work makes you smile then I have done my job."

Janet has also been involved for over 25 years in the woodworking media and is nationally known for her carvings. Partnering with her husband Jay O'Rourke, they have created a nationally known business, Jay O Boxes. She has exhibited in many art fairs including American Craft Council shows and the Smithsonian Craft show. Janet's work can be seen in Gallery's across the U.S. She is in many private and corporate collections and museum collections. She is featured in over 14 books.

Janet O'Rourke was an art director at CGDA a ballet Co in Hood River, Oregon and had been involved in the production of "The Nutcracker Ballet", "Swan Lake" and many more productions. Responsible for creating full sets and costumes, with a cast of over 100 people. Her costumes are visions of her drawings come to life. The ballet has been a source of inspiration for many of her images and her close association with the children of the company has moved her to produce artwork with them in mind.

Janet now resides in Paducah, Kentucky in the LowerTown arts district , with her wonderful husband Jay, her 3 cats,Sapphire, Zelda, Baby and her 2 fabulous companions, Fionna, a great dane and Border Collie mix and last but not least my little Cash, A chihuahua boston terrior mix, cutest little bat dog you ever saw. Janet does many jurried art shows and is working on new illustrations all the time.
